Really Simple Subscriptions (RSS) are feeds which modern web-based services sometimes offer. Its a tool used to advertize and present content in a generic and standardardized fashion which allows it to be manipultated and ultimately viewed based on a user's preference in their own RSS readers (online or client applications).
Here are some examples of how RSS feeds are often used:
-
Add feeds to your preferred online web portal to view content from multiple sources in a single easy-to-review summary elimiating the need to stay ontop of multiple (seperate) email newsletters.
-
Use modern email clients to archive and search feeds offline with optional updates to mobile devices.
-
Make the content more usable for persons with disabilities or age-related limitations where they can manipulate content to suit their "viewing" needs (e.g. change font size or have an RSS feed reader perform text-to-speech).
Hewlett-Packard offers some great information on different ways of taking advantage of RSS feeds here. Learn more about taking advantage of this very powerful medium.
But sometimes, customers just want the ease and simplicity of having updates sent to their email without getting involved with RSS feeds. If this is your preference, then click visit the external (non-HP) url below. While this is an external service, it does comply with customer wishes for those who wish to opt-out. Instructions are included with each email update. As new articles are posted, the service will check the blog each night and email you your updates only when there are new postings.
Let us know if you like this service. If you have another email service you prefer through traditional RSS feeds, please share.
