Video Tutorial: Importing and Exporting Data with HP Web Jetadmin

It's been well over a month since I've posted an update on this portal, so I figured it was time for another video tutorial. This question has come up a couple of times with my various customers around importing and exporing data.  This is usually around using asset management fields like exporting a list of serial numbers to compare against an asset management system or even importing tags into HP Web Jetadmin to either help for device identification with helpdesk and/or incorporate into reports.

Please note that clicking the link above will

(a non-HP website) where the video I have
created is hosted.

While this 20-minute video tutorial just covers the basics, it will give you an understanding on how to get data out of and into HP Web Jetadmin using CSV (Comma Seperated Values) and pointers for how tools like Microsoft Excel can be used as an intermediary to merge data depending on your goals.

Let me know what you think of this video.  I'm trying to keep them short and sweet.  Too short?  Not sweet enough?

Take Care, B.

Thanks humk.  I really appreciate the feedback.

I haven't used the system name import myself.  Defects are handled as part of standard elevations.  I'd suggest if there's a defect you've discovered that you call it into HP support.

In an earlier post (www.communities.hp.com/.../wja-hp-web-jetadmin-updated-to-version-10-1-55407-service-release-1-5-with-hot-fix.aspx), I mentioned that support would be offered to customers entitled through a maintenance agreement and that it would be self-help for everyone else (what's on the web).  While I don't have all the details yet, It appears though that HP Web Jetadmin will be continue to be supported by standard channels using current methods including support for customers with basic hardware warranties at 1-800-HP-INVENT (say "Web Jetadmin" at the prompt), Support One, Premier Support and Managed Print Services arrangements.  The maintenance agreement is still very much recommended for enterprise customers wanting direct access to engineering resources, but I wanted to be sure people knew they can still call into their support resources for continued assistance.

If you do, after some discussion/troubleshooting, I'm sure they'll do their best to help elevate your concerns/requirements for resolution in future versions where possible after assigning a case number to you.

Take care, and thanks again for the feedback.  B.
