From the first day, we were one big team even if we come from different organizations and different countries.

Powerful experience!

But the bigger story for me around the Newsweek rankings is that:

4 of the top 5

5 of the top 10 and

10 of the top 20 companies in the rankings are from one sector: technology.

What story does this tell? A number:

1) Competitive pressures around the environment are proving a real driver to improving sustainability performance in the tech sector.

2) The regulation, mostly stemming from the EU, to control tech companies' environmental impact has spread through out the world and can point to some success stories.

3) That attempts to further clamp down on this sector eg Commissioner Reding's desire to have ICT companies hit the EU's 20:20 early, by 2015, are in fact misplaced.

4) That regulators, instead of looking to constrain technology companies further, should look at other targets. Technology accounts for just 2% of global carbon emissions. But technology can help attack the other 98% through video-conferencing, smart grids, smart buildings and smarter transport. We need smarter policy to help!

In other words, the debate must shift. Technology companies are leading the way (with HP leading the tech companies). We should now look to how this innovation-led industry can help solve the problems of climate change.

Thanks for your comment. Let me first apologize for the time since your comment, July has been busy and summer break just finished.

Our privacy policy is fully referred to in our SBC (stands for Standards of Business Conduct) with the overarching objective to treat our customers and employees in a fair, compliant and ethical way.

The HP Privacy Office reports then to the WW "Ethics & Compliance" organization with all the consequences in terms of importance and visibility in case of significant infringement to Privacy policy and also to any others such as Inclusion and Diversity ones.

It means that the behaviour you mention above would be handled with highest priority and addressed according to our Code of conduct (SBC) with appropriate actions implemented.

Consequently there is no reasons to think that this "put in doubt" anything in current and future strategy & practices... In fact it is truly the inverse...

Because Privacy and other Ehics related policies are handled consistenly within same organization it will bring appropriate response to such scenario and ensure fullfilment of Company responsibility.

Regards
