An article in CIO Insight caught my eye this week. '10 Ways to Cut IT Costs' calls out measures that CIOs can
take to cut costs and improve efficiency during recessionary times. Reporter
David Kampfhammer lays out practical, actionable suggestions for CIOs struggling
to reduce the cost of IT and make it more efficient. Among his top ten are
suggestions that CIOs move IT offshore, use managed services and remote
management, and refocus costly resources.
All valid considerations. However, I would be as bold as to suggest adding
an 11th recommendation - 'Do not ignore the cost savings and efficiency to be
found within your printing and imaging infrastructure!'.
I've seen statistics that say every $1 spent on putting marks on paper
involves another $9 to manage it. Buyers Labs estimates that 90% of all
companies do not track printing costs. Combine this with the fact that
information doubles every 18 months, and the average worker spends 40% of their
time looking for information, and you can easily tally up the cost savings and
efficiency boost you would get with better optimization of your infrastructure
and management of your printing environment.
The good news is - HP can help.
