Today, HP made a pretty substantial announcement aimed squarely at enterprise customers who are looking to do more to manage and measure the environmental impact of their printing infrastructure – while also driving down costs.
HP certainly has what I call ‘eco credibility.’ For 50+ years, the company has been a leader in environmental sustainability, and runs with the belief that a managed approach to environmental responsibility does NOT necessarily mean spending big. The cool new tools HP introduced today underscore this approach.
Here are a few highlights:
Today, HP launched the HP Eco Solutions printing practice for large organizations - a portfolio of tools, software, services, hardware, and expertise - to help customers reduce their environment impact and save money. This includes:
– New HP Web Jetadmin Eco Solutions Reports, a reporting tool that allows IT administrators to measure, evaluate and, as a result, make decisions that will help reduce the environmental impact of their printing fleet and ultimately save money. The tool considers more than 15 environmental factors, including duplex vs. simplex, digital vs. analog, and energy usage, and tracks performance over time.
– New Change Management kit: In response to overwhelming customer demand, HP is launching a series of toolkits to help customers implement environmental best practices across their organizations and communicate the value – both financial and environmental – to internal stakeholders and employees.
– Updates to the HP Carbon Footprint Calculator for printing - offering a new look and feel with more graphics and charts to make information easier to digest and analyze, as well as the ability to save data and reference individual information at a later date. The calculator also now incorporates the impact – in paper savings -- of using HP Smart Web Printing and features a new “Search for Printer” allowing customers to import fleet information from HP Web Jetadmin, making it easier for customers to access data and avoid manual input.
For some time now, we have seen incredibly strong interest in HP’s Eco Printing Assessment services, as well as our Green IT Action Plan. Customers have been thrilled with the ability to assess their organization’s current imaging and printing environment and user attitudes, establish green procurement guidelines, gain organizational commitment and develop an action plan to achieve environmental responsibility within budget.
I’m betting that the new tools we introduced today will be a welcome hit with customers who are looking to do more to manage, measure and reduce costs. What do you think?
