Beyond the Super Bowl Spectacle

Hey everyone - I'm back from the Super Bowl this week. What a game! This year's spectacle was one of the best ever -- and proved to be a welcome, yet sharp contrast to the difficulties that plague our economy. However, to me, the Super Bowl isn't simply about football, or even the halftime extravaganza (however great Springsteen was!)

I had the opportunity to meet with more than thirty CIOs and executives - some who are already executing with HP on the three tenets of our strategy: optimize infrastructure, manage environment, and improve workflow, and some who are eager to get started with our Print 2.0 workshops and assessments. With their continued focus on costs, productivity, security and environmental impact, it is becoming more and more clear that HP has lined up the solutions they need to combat the brutal realities of today's business climate.

So, while the Steelers delivered on their promise to capture their sixth championship title, and 'The Boss' delivered on his promise of a '12-minute' halftime party, our enterprise printing team is also ready to deliver. We're committed to delivering the solutions our customers need to do more with less, boost productivity, protect their infrastructure and reign in the costs and environmental impact of their paper-intensive processes.

HP Unveils New Document Management Solutions and Green IT Action Plan for Enterprise Customers

I’m up early and ready for an engaging and informative day with customers and partners here at ImagePrint. In all of our customer conversations today, we’re focused on how we can help customers optimize their infrastructure, manage their environment and improve their workflows.

With this in mind, today we are excited to announce three new imaging and printing solutions that include:

HP and Perceptive Software Capture and Workflow Solutions, which enable customers to capture and organize all types of documents then retrieve a specific page instantly from a wide variety of standard as well as custom enterprise business applications.
HP and ReadSoft Automated Invoice Processing Solution that transforms paper-based workflows into a seamless electronic process. This allows for finance and administration teams to interpret, validate and verify information contained in printed invoices.
HP Automated Invoice Processing Solution for Manufacturing captures invoice data for manufacturers at remote locations using HP MFPs and rapidly interprets, verifies and approves the information electronically. The solution facilitates rigorous records management, compliance and risk reduction, creating fully digital documents that can be processed in days rather than weeks. It is ideal for manufacturers looking to reduce labor, document storage, shipping, and courier costs.

In addition, we are also announcing the new Green IT Action plan for printing and imaging, a step-by-step guide to help customers develop a plan to reduce the environmental impact of printing and imaging.

Innovative HP and UPS Partnership

When UPS approached us about creating a solution that would help them streamline their package scanning and labeling process, you can imagine that we were up to the challenge. Immediately we knew it was a natural partnership – UPS has historically adopted innovative technology as a leader in supply chain and logistics and HP brings years of IT experience and ground breaking innovations.

Today, I’m excited to announce that UPS is deploying our combination scanner and paperless printing device – the HP Handheld sp400 All-in-One – This groundbreaking device prints millions of sorting instructions in ink directly on packages without the use of labels.

The innovation behind this solution is just part of its success. With the HP Handheld sp400 All-in-One, UPS will experience increased efficiency and effectiveness at a lower cost, while reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.

Take a look at these statistics:

At a beta test in Orlando, where the HP Handheld sp400 All-in-One was being used for about 40,000 packages a day, it reduced errors to zero.
The device enables UPS to be more productive; saving approximately 92,456 hours per year.
UPS expects to decrease operational costs by more than $30 million by 2013.
The HP Handheld sp400 All-in-One will also help UPS reduce their environmental impact through paper and ink reduction. By eliminating all paper-based label printing for just one year, UPS expects to save 1,338 tons of paper and reduce their carbon emissions by 3,807 tons.

We’re excited that UPS and other companies will have the opportunity to incorporate this device into their business processes to become more efficient, improve workflow and reduce carbon footprint.

HP's Carbon Footprint Calculator is Now Available

On May 22nd, HP’s Imaging and Printing Group made a huge environmental announcement. As part of the announcement, we introduced the HP Carbon Footprint Calculator and indicated that it’ll be available at the end of June. Well, it’s now available. It takes about a minute to load. Check it out and let us know your thoughts.

The HP Carbon Footprint Calculator for printing helps you compare the carbon footprint of an existing sample printer fleet to that of a new, optimized LaserJet-based fleet. The calculator helps you understand how you can reduce your impact on the environment. It assesses printer energy and paper use, the carbon impact of usage and associated monetary costs based on geographical energy assessments.
