&lt;p&gt;Right now I am at HP headquarters in Palo Alto, where some BIG news is being announced out of HP&amp;rsquo;s Imaging and Printing Group by our very own Mark Hurd and Vyomesh Joshi. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Today, in front of industry leaders, analysts, customers, partners and media worldwide, HP announced &lt;a href="http://h71028.www7.hp.com/enterprise/us/en/ipg/new-solutions-products-fall-2009.html"&gt;new offerings&lt;/a&gt; &amp;ndash; including&amp;nbsp; the expansion of its highly successful 25-year relationship with Canon, new channel programs, and an unmatched imaging and printing portfolio to help businesses streamline and integrate paper-intensive processes with digital workflows. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I think it&amp;rsquo;s pretty clear that, with all of the building we&amp;rsquo;ve done over the past few years and with the momentum we have going, HP is clearly the only partner that can drive workflow solutions based on its expertise across IT and imaging and printing.&amp;nbsp; With our balanced combination of products, services and solutions, we are READY NOW to help our customers transform business processes and drive down costs by optimizing the infrastructure, managing the environment and improving document workflows.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Pretty cool news today.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; We announced HP&amp;rsquo;s new Global Business Unit, Managed Enterprise Solutions (MES),&amp;nbsp; will be led by Bruce Dahlgren WW and I have the honor of leading HP&amp;#39;s MES business in the Americas. We have extended the recently announced HP Printing Payback Guarantee to the EMEA, Latin America and Canada regions. And, the expanded HP and Canon alliance provides MPS customers with access to the broadest portfolio of single and multifunction devices.&amp;nbsp; New channel program enhancements enable HP&amp;rsquo;s reseller partners to become even more competitive in the imaging and printing market. &lt;/p&gt;

streamline their package scanning and labeling process, you can imagine that we 
were up to the challenge. Immediately we knew it was a natural partnership – UPS

I’m excited to announce that UPS is deploying our combination scanner and 
paperless printing device – &lt;a href="http://www.hp.com/go/handheldaio"&gt;the HP 
Handheld sp400 All-in-One&lt;/a&gt; – This groundbreaking device prints millions of 
sorting instructions in ink directly on packages without the use of labels. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The innovation behind this solution is just part of its success. With the HP 
Handheld sp400 All-in-One, UPS will experience increased efficiency and 
effectiveness at a lower cost, while reducing energy consumption and carbon 
emissions. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Take a look at these statistics:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;At a beta test in Orlando, where the HP Handheld sp400 All-in-One was being 
used for about 40,000 packages a day, it reduced errors to zero.
&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;The device enables UPS to be more productive; saving approximately 92,456 
hours per year. 
&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;UPS expects to decrease operational costs by more than $30 million by 2013.

paper-based label printing for just one year, UPS expects to save 1,338 tons of 
paper and reduce their carbon emissions by 3,807 tons. &lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We’re excited that UPS and other companies will have the opportunity to 
incorporate this device into their business processes to become more efficient, 
improve workflow and reduce carbon footprint.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE:10pt;FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE:10pt;FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;According to PR industry e-zine, &lt;i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal;"&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.bulldogreporter.com/ME2/dirsect.asp?sid=93306A7EF5FD4FA0AFD772EF3E7036C9&amp;amp;nm=Free+E-Zines"&gt;Bulldog Reporter&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/i&gt;, “The problem boils down to misleading and exaggerated environmental claims and ties by advertisers that have consumers caught on an overgrown lawn of green skepticism.” For example, the &lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;Times&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt; points out that The Advertising Standards Authority received 561 complaints from consumers about green claims in 410 ads in 2007, up from 117 complaints about 83 ads the year before.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE:10pt;FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE:10pt;FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;Where does that leave HP? &lt;p&gt;On May 22nd, HP’s Imaging and Printing Group made a huge &lt;a href="http://www.hp.com/go/ecosolutions" target="_blank"&gt;environmental announcement&lt;/a&gt;. As part of the announcement, we introduced the &lt;a href="http://www.hp.com/go/co2printcalculator" target="_blank"&gt;HP Carbon Footprint Calculator&lt;/a&gt; and indicated that it’ll be available at the end of June. Well, it’s now available. It takes about a minute to load. Check it out and let us know your thoughts. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The HP Carbon Footprint Calculator for printing helps you compare the carbon footprint of an existing sample printer fleet to that of a new, optimized LaserJet-based fleet. The calculator helps you understand how you can reduce your impact on the environment. It assesses printer energy and paper use, the carbon impact of usage and associated monetary costs based on geographical energy assessments.&lt;/p&gt;
