&lt;p&gt;Hi everyone and greetings from the &lt;a href="http://www.fose.com/" target="_blank"&gt;&lt;font color="#0066a7"&gt;2009 FOSE Conference in DC&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/a&gt;! &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This year&amp;#39;s FOSE has been an incredibly energizing event for HP.&amp;nbsp; To start, the event theme this year is &amp;#39;Federal Power Meets Future Power&amp;#39;.&amp;nbsp; HP stayed true to the theme by showcasing how the company is working to help government agencies drive economic recovery through technology innovation.&amp;nbsp; We all know that IT is playing an increasingly central role in helping the government solve its toughest challenges.&amp;nbsp; At FOSE, HP highlighted how federal agencies can reduce costs and mitigate risks, while they also implement green initiatives and enhance services.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;HP backed this up with the introduction of a number of solid solutions to help agencies revolutionize the way government is administered --- helping them increase efficiency, secure information and drive down costs.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; FOSE attendees received a firsthand look at the following new HP technology solutions for the public sector:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;•&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; HP Automated Data Removal Solution – streamlines the redaction process of documents through HP multifunction printers and scanners;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;•&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; HP Government Case Processing Accelerator Solution – facilitates the routing of sensitive data directly into business applications;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;•&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Voluntary Product Accessibility Template – assists federal agencies using HP Exstream in their compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; and&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;•&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array 6400 and 8400 (EVA6400/8400) and the enhanced SAN Virtualization Services Platform 2.1 (SVSP 2.1) – expand HP’s storage virtualization portfolio.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I’m happy to report that ImagePrint 2008 was a tremendous success.&amp;nbsp; This 
year, we had a record number of enterprise customers and channel and solution 
partners in attendance.&amp;nbsp; Not only was it a great turnout, but everything from 
the breakout sessions to the keynotes to the solutions showcase were first-rate 
and we received extremely positive feedback from our customers and partners 
alike.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; I have the privilege to work with many smart and talented people at HP 
and really saw my team engaging at all levels.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;At every turn I was hearing from customers that this event made a difference 
and that they are going to take immediate action on building their &lt;a href="http://www.hp.com/large/ipg/?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN"&gt;Print 2.0 plans&lt;/a&gt;, 
which allow them to save money and improve their business processes just by 
assessing their imaging and printing environment.&amp;nbsp; For those already down the 
path of &lt;a href="http://www.hp.com/large/ipg/bus-solutions/infrastructure.html?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN"&gt;optimizing 
their infrastructure&lt;/a&gt; and/or &lt;a href="http://www.hp.com/large/ipg/bus-solutions/environment.html?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN"&gt;managing 
their environments&lt;/a&gt;, they wanted to extend their plans by &lt;a href="http://www.hp.com/large/ipg/bus-solutions/workflow.html?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN"&gt;improving 
their workflows&lt;/a&gt; and streamlining their imaging and printing operations.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Thank you to everyone who attended this year’s event.&lt;/p&gt;

Solution for Manufacturing&lt;/a&gt; captures invoice data for manufacturers at remote 
locations using HP MFPs and rapidly interprets, verifies and approves the 
information electronically. The solution facilitates rigorous records 
management, compliance and risk reduction, creating fully digital documents that 
can be processed in days rather than weeks. It is ideal for manufacturers 
looking to reduce labor, document storage, shipping, and courier costs.

&lt;p&gt;When UPS approached us about creating a solution that would help them 
streamline their package scanning and labeling process, you can imagine that we 
were up to the challenge. Immediately we knew it was a natural partnership – UPS 
has historically adopted innovative technology as a leader in supply chain and 
logistics and HP brings years of IT experience and ground breaking innovations. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://h71028.www7.hp.com/enterprise/downloads/HP-UPS_Release_FINAL.pdf"&gt;Today&lt;/a&gt;, 
I’m excited to announce that UPS is deploying our combination scanner and 
paperless printing device – &lt;a href="http://www.hp.com/go/handheldaio"&gt;the HP 
Handheld sp400 All-in-One&lt;/a&gt; – This groundbreaking device prints millions of 
sorting instructions in ink directly on packages without the use of labels. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The innovation behind this solution is just part of its success. With the HP 
Handheld sp400 All-in-One, UPS will experience increased efficiency and 
effectiveness at a lower cost, while reducing energy consumption and carbon 
emissions. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Take a look at these statistics:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;At a beta test in Orlando, where the HP Handheld sp400 All-in-One was being 
used for about 40,000 packages a day, it reduced errors to zero.
&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;The device enables UPS to be more productive; saving approximately 92,456 
hours per year. 
&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;UPS expects to decrease operational costs by more than $30 million by 2013.
&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;The HP Handheld sp400 All-in-One will also help UPS reduce their 
environmental impact through paper and ink reduction. By eliminating all 
paper-based label printing for just one year, UPS expects to save 1,338 tons of 
paper and reduce their carbon emissions by 3,807 tons. &lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We’re excited that UPS and other companies will have the opportunity to 
incorporate this device into their business processes to become more efficient, 
improve workflow and reduce carbon footprint.&lt;/p&gt;

use, speed, and versatility. I found it all. This MFC is years ahead of all 
&lt;i&gt;supposed&lt;/i&gt; competitors in ease of use, value, reliability, versatility, 
speed, and functionality. In print/copy mode, having a printer spew out pages at 
a 40 page per minute clip in black-and-white or color is just impressive. As a 
network fax, the physicians were able to skip two steps in prescription

&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;Just returning back from my trip to Europe.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun:yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;We met with 12 customers in &lt;/font&gt;&lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlin"&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;Berlin&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;, now one of my favorite cities, as part of our enterprise advisory council.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun:yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;The group of thought leaders represents leading companies in central and eastern Europe, as well as the middle east, Mediterranean and Africa.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun:yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;We had companies from Russia, Poland, Budapest, Romania, Czech Republic, Turkey, Greece, and others.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun:yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Over the course of two days, they provided invaluable feedback on our strategy, direction, &lt;/font&gt;&lt;a href="http://h71028.www7.hp.com/enterprise/cache/19128-0-0-225-121.html"&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;portfolio&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;, and &lt;/font&gt;&lt;a href="http://h71028.www7.hp.com/enterprise/cache/19054-0-0-225-121.html"&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;solutions&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun:yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun:yes;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;The feedback gathered here impacts the key decisions we will make in the short term and long term.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun:yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;This council is one of many that we do around the world to keep a close pulse on our customers, market trends, and key opportunities.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;After the council, we spent two days in southern Germany with our enterprise imaging and printing region leadership team for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).&lt;span style="mso-spacerun:yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;We have a very strong leadership team that has been consistently growing the business and our market share in EMEA.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun:yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;It was great to see how our plans are coming together to continue this leadership in the market.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE:10pt;FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE:10pt;FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;According to PR industry e-zine, &lt;i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal;"&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.bulldogreporter.com/ME2/dirsect.asp?sid=93306A7EF5FD4FA0AFD772EF3E7036C9&amp;amp;nm=Free+E-Zines"&gt;Bulldog Reporter&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/i&gt;, “The problem boils down to misleading and exaggerated environmental claims and ties by advertisers that have consumers caught on an overgrown lawn of green skepticism.” For example, the &lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;Times&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt; points out that The Advertising Standards Authority received 561 complaints from consumers about green claims in 410 ads in 2007, up from 117 complaints about 83 ads the year before.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE:10pt;FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE:10pt;FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;Where does that leave HP? Our commitment to &lt;a href="http://intranet.hp.com/marketing/CorporateAffairs/environment/Pages/LiveGreenTips.aspx"&gt;environmental stewardship&lt;/a&gt; isn’t just a passing phase – in fact, it’s built into our DNA as a company, Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard were pioneers in recognizing that beyond making a profit, a company has a responsibility to enrich the businesses, lives and communities of its customers, partners, employees and stakeholders. Sure, like almost everyone else, we amped up our green marketing in the last year, but our claims are very real.
