OMG - that's a lot of blade servers

One of our specialists passed this cool picture along of a massive row of blades.  I'd tell you what customer it was from but they would hang me.

PS: you know you're a nerd when you think lots of blinking green lights are cool.  (guilty)

I have been looking at this picture for the last 10 minutes trying to figure out what they would be doing with close to 40 enclosures worth of Server+Storage blades. They look like 460's up top, and 460's + SB40's below. I cannot picture how using this many storage blades would be a better solution to a SAN in pretty much any case.

Don't suppose anyone could give a hint as to what this is used for?

The only reason I can think of using the storage blades like that is for NAS for a HPC cluster. Running PolyServe perhaps? Most clusters don't require this much storage spread out like this though, so maybe they are working with millions upon milllions of small files that have to be rapidly read/written.

Not going to publicly guess on the customer, but that orange band around the top of the room may be a hint. Not many companies use that color.
