The advice in your blog concentrates on driving success through honest endeavour, not being afraid of taking action and treating others decently. As the saying goes there is nothing new under the sun, part of Churchill's success in WW2 was due to the extraordinary talent he possessed for getting the very best out of people. A lot of these characteristics are described in your blog.

The book is called What Would Churchill Do? - Business advice from the man who saved the world

Pages tagged "incessant"

Pingback from Pages tagged "incessant"

Stan,

thanks for mentioning the links to the Discussion Groups on my web site. You and the others should also take a look into the drop-down list "Societies, Associations & Communities" categorized by continents - a sizeable list, yet incomplete I guess. So send me your hints to others to get a more complete pciture of the worldwide KM groups landscape.

Bets regards from a rainy Germany,

I have just completed a paper on the application of KM in the Project Management space for the 2008 PMI North American conference. While I can certainly see the argument for the demise of KM as a field, I also am hopeful. With the right "sell" it becomes clear that consciously managing knowledge is a key capability in any organization that thrives on knowledge work. The problem is that as soon as there is a job description, process definition and a nice name for it, a field tends to become insular and that leads to politics, conflict, being viewed as an expendable expense, etc.

We need the kind of people who can fill KM positions and do themselves out of a job by creating a self sustaining knowledge sharing process that is a natural part of the fabric of the community.

You may be interested in my book "The Zen Approach to Project Management: Working from Your Center to Manage Expectations and Performance" as it addresses how to survive, thrive and reach for self-actualization in our 'crazy' world.

Knowledge should not be classed as a resource. Knowledge is simply a perspective on the nature of organization.

Information, which is the mediating form of knowledge is open to capture, utilization and dissemination. Information is knowledge representation in one-dimension only.

Knowledge however is not open to such operations. Systems thinking is one perspective on the nature of organization. This provides a looking glass from which everything can be viewed as systemic, contingent and collaborative. Just a perspective though. Like all things...this perspective evolves.

Knowledge cannot be managed as a resource and to try to do that is to institute a sorrugate reality. There is another way to manage knowledge (so to speak). However, this form of management is more tangential that direct whereby knowledge is managed indirectly.

Knowledge is fundamental and it is from such fundamentalism that number arises. Now, number is the fundamental element of mediating knowledge: Information.
