If you have travelled on the underground in London you will have heard the repetitive warning to "mind the gap" every time a tube train stops at the station. As a daily traveller though you don't hear it any more - you simply ignore it.
So, is this why organizations are not minding the gap between their executives' top business goal of ensuring the right information is available at the right time and the fact that less than half of business decision makers have a high confidence level in the quality and accessibility of information in their organizations?
These findings, from a research study we commissioned from the RONIN Corporation in February 2009, also show a worrisome, significant difference between the perception of line of business executives (LOB) and their IT counterparts - with LOB more likely to feel low confidence in their information compared to IT (15% versus 3%).
Why is this do you think? Is your organization "minding the gap"? And if not, why not? Let's get some dialog and sharing going, and explore how we can collectively help each other to bridge the gap.
