Please make your 450,460,470 printer a portable work horse.

They are portable but made to sit on a desk. When you grab it to take it in and out of a briefcase the top bows or slides and the entire weight is being held by the small plastic pins on the cover. This is a terrible design for portability. Add a handle that swings out and put larger and sturdier hinges on the cover and a tighter fit to get rid of the bow in the lid. The cover also rubs back and forth inside the breifcase removing the finish. I would even pay more for harder case.

i just hooked my 2nd officejet pro 8000 in the last 2 weeks.  It clearly has a design problem.  Pages do not feed correctly and are exiting the printer with chewed up edges.  Thankfully Staples has been very accomodating....so far.  I wonder what they are going to say tomorrow when I take the 3rd machine back.  I have used everyone of these printers since the officejet 1000.  Too bad this one shipped before it has been properly tested.

Appreciate your feedback about our Officejet mobile printers.  You might consider protecting your product with the HP Mobile Printer Sleeve (Q6281A).  It cushions the product when you carry it, and you can keep the sleeve on when printing.  It has slots in the cover so you can easily insert a wireless dongle, memory card, USB cable or power cord.  Hope this helps.

This is a reply to Bill Underwood.  Sorry to hear about your problem.  Have you tried contacting our support team at www.hp.com/support or calling 1-800-HP-INVENT (if you are in the US)?  I have a suggestion though which might be the simple fix you are looking for.  Try checking the auto-duplexer unit which snaps on the back to enable double-sided printing.  It needs to be attached, with the tabs clicked in all the way and be even on both sides, to avoid chewed-up paper edges.  Did this do the trick?

HP performed printer reliability and performance testing on the Officejet 8000 printer with a 3rd party lab called BLI.  They printed 15,000 pages and didn't experience any malfunctions, misfeeds or service calls, so they awarded the product with a certificate of reliability.  You can read the report at this link.

Hope we can get things on-track for you.
