New Officejet Printers deliver Professional Color Documents for up to 40% less Cost per Page and Energy use than Lasers

This week at the National Small Business Week event, HP announced the new Officejet 6000 Printer series which gives small businesses the power of professional color at up to 40% less cost per page and energy use than lasers.1  Color pages communicate better, and these new Officejet printers deliver professional color economically with reduced environmental impact.  Independent tests by Buyers Lab Inc. demonstrate the lower power consumption and print speeds of these new inkjet printers compared to lasers.  Read the report here.   These new printers will be available starting in June 2009.

Two New Printer Models

The new HP Officejet 6000 Wireless printer (USD $119) is HP’s most-affordable business inkjet printer.  It delivers fast performance with wireless and Ethernet connectivity for sharing in the office and automatic two-sided printing that can save up to 50% on paper use.  The Officejet 6000 printer (USD $89) is also available for offices which need Ethernet and USB 2.0 connectivity and only require single-sided printing.  Both these new printers are business-class and include HP reliability.

Reliable, Speedy and Versatile

Buyer’s Lab Inc. also completed a reliability evaluation of the Officejet 6000 printer.  After printing 7,000 pages, they awarded it a reliability certificate with an “excellent” ranking because they experienced no printer malfunctions, misfeeds or service calls during their test.  You can read this study here.

This printer uses HP Officejet 920 and 920XL inks.  The printer has speeds equivalent to a laser printer with up to 7 pages per minute black / 7 ppm color5, 4 and up to 32 ppm black / 31 ppm color in draft mode.3, 4  The first-page out speed is impressive when compared to lasers.  First-page-out is the typical time you have to wait for the printer to deliver the first printed page.  The Officejet 6000 printer delivers the first printed page as fast as 20 seconds black / 21 seconds color4.

Unlike laser printers, you can create full-color borderless brochures and images which look like they were printed professionally.  The Officejet 6000 prints graphics, cover pages, fliers, and other output all the way to the paper’s edge on brochure and photo papers.

Workhorse Inks for Small Business

The Officejet 6000 printer has a large 250-sheet paper input tray.   The Officejet 920 individual inks enable you to only replace the cartridges you need.   They can deliver more printed pages with fewer cartridge replacements, using available high-capacity XL cartridges.2   These Officejet 920 inks retain black text and color quality on plain paper for decades without fading so they are ideal for archival documents.6

Reducing Environmental Impact for SMB’s

In addition to being ENERGY STAR® qualified, this HP Officejet printer includes HP Smart Web Printing and supports recycled papers.  HP offers responsible and convenient recycling and product take-back services.

HP Easy Printer Care Software is also supported on Officejet 6000 printers.  It allows monitoring of up to 20 HP printers from your desktop.  This software allows you to easily check device and ink supplies status and order supplies.  Easy Printer Care Software lets you consolidate supplies orders to reduce the environmental impact of packing and transporting multiple single orders.

Feel free to leave a comment or question.  I’m curious about how you use inkjet printing in your office.  In my next blog entry, I’ll introduce the new Officejet 7000 Wide Format printer.

i'm interested in comparing the costs to print color and black and white between the different printers, desk jets, lasers, office and home use.  is there a website that has such comparisons?
