A recent article on Tom Hogan, Executive Vice President and head of HP Software and Solutions, in Forbes magazine discusses how his strategy for the software group is paying off. The numbers (profits up 51% in the last quarter compared to last year, pretax margin of almost 18%) tell only part of the story. As a veteran of several startups, I can tell you that in his 10,000 person group, there is as much energy and excitement as I have seen in my career.
The article does not discuss IT infrastructure management, but it does give an idea about the strategy of HP software.
