You can use an external print server or windows printer sharing to network this printer so you could use it from your wireless laptop. Most solutions let you print to it but not scan or use other functions over a network connection. An exception is the HP Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit. Using windows printer sharing is free; you might want to check out www.microsoft.com/.../honeycutt_july2.mspx

There are some other router settings which I've seen cause this to happen, such as the printer being set up as being the DMZ for the network, but this is pretty rare. If the printer doesn't seem to be working and the test report says it thinks the problem is MAC address filtering, I'd look at router settings to see if something is excluding the printer from the network, something other than wireless settings (SSID, encryption key).

Heard that the HP Officejet L7780 offers Direct Digital Filing for scans and this makes it an ideal All-In-One for our front office, but want to make sure we can connect it by CAT5 to our MS Server 2003 for Small Business, want to get more info than "yes you can", need some specific info on what most common problems are and their fixes.

I realize this may not be your niche, but your info tells me you are probably best person to go to on this or to be directed by to the right community.

Thank you for anything you can do to help,

Print to the printer which appears to be "offline" when you are using VPN, including you are seeing with web site. The print job will just queue up. Then disconnect VPN. As soon as you are back on your local network, networked printer will reconnect, and it will print all the print jobs queue up. After printing finishes, you can reconnect to VPN. This is what I have been doing. Once the print job is submitted, you do not need to be able to see the web site any more. As a matter of fact, even if you close the application you were printing from, it will print.
