Jamie Beckett, who has been my (and many other HP Labs employees') web guru--helping to explain the rationale and often the mechanics of successfully presenting on the Web (I have an HP-internal website, so her guidance does extend much further back than this April!)--is,as of yesterday, no longer at HP. Her blog is at:

In my first post to this blog, I mentioned one piece of "corporate advice"--namely, that of not showing up for the first day of work on your best behavior. "While it is certainly important to show up on the first day with energy, a great attitude and a willingness to learn, it is rarely worth personality scrubbing. And, you may live to regret it." That post is at:

Today is item #2 on my short list of "corporate advice". Always say "thanks". It's the only way to keep from taking other people, or the great work they do, for granted. It seems easy enough, right, but in these rushed times, it's easy to forget.
So, Jamie, thanks for all your help and positive energy over the years!
