Hey movie-fans, I’m happy to be reporting again for HP at the Sundance Film Festival. Thankfully, my boss has allowed me to go again for year #2 in Park City, so I’ll be keeping you up to date with all the very important happenings. Until it starts, I’ll be writing from time to time from my home in Colorado leading up to my arrival on January 18. Here’s my list of the top 5 things (in no particular order) that I’m looking forward to experiencing again at Sundance:

  1. The Fashion. Last year it was furry boots and newsboy caps – I’m wondering if it will be the same again in ’07. If not, I’ll be taking back the new stuff I just bought. I’m not sure fashion can really change that much from year to year – after all, there are only so many ways to stay warm, right? I’ll let you know what I find out. I’ll be capturing it all on my HP Photosmart 927 camera, and hey, with all the celebrities around, I doubt I will even need to use the slimming feature!
  2. The Movies. I saw “Friends with Money” (Jennifer Aniston flick) and predicted it would be a huge success. I also kept hearing about this little film called “Little Miss Sunshine” but never bothered to see it at the festival, figuring it wouldn’t amount to much. See what a great judge of movies I am? Friends with Money didn’t do so well, and Little Miss Sunshine was a huge hit. (BTW – I’ve seen Sunshine twice since then and absolutely loved it.) And, I’m happy to report, HP is now using its little star, Abigail Breslin in our latest television commercials. If you haven’t seen it, check it out here.
  3. The Celebrities. The great thing about seeing celebs at Sundance is that they seem more real than when you see them in magazines walking the red carpet. When it’s 20 degrees and snowing, there’s not a ball gown in sight – just boots and parkas. Freezing weather is the great equalizer. Somehow it makes you feel that we are all on an even playing field (even though we’re not). Last year I got a glimpse of Jen (Aniston of course) and a kiss from Terrence Howard, so I’m not sure what to expect this time. Whatever happens, I can assure you, you’ll be the first to know.
  4. The “Almost” Celebrities. Last time I met all these great people who were on the verge of making it big in Hollywood. Writers, directors, producers - they all had such passion for their craft, it was unbelievable. Hearing their stories and rooting for their success was even more fun than #3. Seriously. Really, it was.
  5. And finally, the “Regular” people. Hanging with my fellow HP-ers at Sundance honestly made the whole experience. Karen, Angie, Patrick, Katie, Linda, and the guys from 916 Networks made working 12-hour days seem almost like a vacation rather than work (but don’t tell my boss).

Talk to you soon…
