Radio and the Web Site - The Changing Face of Digital Media & Marketing -
Radio and the Web Site

I was driving my kids to school this morning before coming into the office -- a normal start to the day at the Berg Hacienda. The radio was tuned to the local news/talk station 740 KTRH here in Houston. I love the station, because they constantly update the traffic, weather, etc. But this morning, I really noticed the change that has occurred as it relates to radio news reporting…..

So what was so “ground breaking?” Well, what I’ve noticed is the significant mentions of “go to our website” for more information, photos, videos, blogs, commentary, etc. I’ve certainly noticed this in the past, but it was after almost every story. At first I thought “I’m getting ripped off, I want ALL the news, not just the highlights!” But on second thought I came to discover that the newscasters were actually giving me the top line of many more stories and news items than in past years and allowing me the option to follow up on those that I wanted to deep dive on. And that’s great, but heck I couldn’t remember after driving what stories I wanted to deep dive on.

Now I know that this isn’t anything new, and that it goes on daily on every station out there. What I think might be interesting is having the ability to deep dive right then while driving my car via an interactive interface – is that the next evolution of content distribution – via the automobiles interface?? Or is mobile the device of choice for that information?

Thoughts to consider…
