And just as that is going on, I’ve been expanding my “social footprint” in my utilization of Facebook. So let’s take a look at some recent progress to my experience:
Friends – 35 (ok, even I’m amazed that 35 people would claim me!)
Postings on my Wall – 4
Avg. Times I’m Checking the Site – usually 2 times per day
What have I noticed about using Facebook now for 7 weeks?
- Most of my friends are business associates – and most of what we talk about is business.
- My personal friends have yet to integrate or use the site as much as I had anticipated – probably an age thing.
- Connecting with old high school or college chums is also difficult do to the lack of participation with the site.
- Business associates have expanded over the 7 weeks, much like linkedin.com. However, I feel that I can be a bit more relaxed in posting, etc with Facebook than with linkedin.
- I’ve kind of peaked out as it relates to widgets… I’m not really searching for any new ones… in fact, if I add anything it’s because I see one of my friends has added it.
For marketers and advertisers:
- The advertising isn’t intrusive on the pages, which I think lends credibility to the site… if they make it a page full of banners; I think you’ll see a mass-exodus.
- Widgets are not utilized by many companies… you see a few, but they tend to be fairly commercial… I haven’t seen a widget that has drawn me in as yet.
- Networks still seem to be a place where some type of limited but useful information could be created for end users.
More to come in the near future… what’s your experiences been like??
