News Alert -- Nielsen to provide data for Google TV ads

 

Interesting article on B to B Online about Nielsen now providing TV audience demo data for Google TV ads. I see this as another strategic move by Google to clearly provide advertisers with data and analysis which support transparency and insight.

As I see it, Google is moving itself into a more mainstream “media company” with the tools, metrics and partners which provide insight and comfort to media agencies and advertisers. In some respects, Nielsen adds credibility and provides Google with another proof point in the battle for online and TV dollars.

It will be interesting to watch how Google will utilize the data in relation to comparison within the TV space and/or with other media types. In addition, Nielsen’s expansion in the space should be watched to see how other digital media companies react and/or get involved with Nielsen.
